The One Who Let Go

You didn't stop me,

When I urged to hold your hand in mine,

And my heart raced every time you were seen,

The butterflies fluttered ever so cheerfully,

Love had sparked a twinkle behind my eyes.

You didn't stop me,

When, around you, everything felt fine,

And it was on your shoulder that I wanted lean,

The love grew exponentially,

Loving you was like loving pretty skies.

You didn't stop me,

When darkness started to engulf us and there was no light left to shine,

And you turned cold and mean,

The love died painfully,

The rose tinted glass shatter and I could see through all the lies.

It is true that people change when time flies,

But you and I were beyond that, gosh I was mistaken so awfully,

I tried to search for reasons to love you, with eyes so keen,

You couldn't understand what I meant between the lines,

Yet you didn't stop me.

You didn't stop me,

When my heart got pierced and splattered,

On the pools of my tears,

And my ears were echoing with all your false promises,

While all I could gauge was, that it was you, my soul misses.

And then you didn't stop me,

When I walked away from you,

With a heart, black and blue,

And eyes coloured red,

Because love is not alive but dead,

It is covered in white,

And I move away from you, towards light,

I walk ahead to be free,

But only one thing still stings me,

You didn't stop me.
